I became a huge Dr. Martens addict in school. My first semester was tainted by Bass loafers and I vowed to never go there again. I wasn’t a penny loafer girl. I was creative, into the arts, edgy and on the go. What I needed were Docs. My first pair were 8 eye 1460’s in black. Edgy enough to wear with my uniform but were great for non uniform days. I loved those boots so much and I’m happy they still make them! I then added to my collection the oxblood red color, blackwatch plaid and then graduated to 20 eye ones that still live in my closet.
You see, the thing about Dr. Martens boots is they last. Ask a Doc owner how long they have had their boots. You might be surprised when they have to think since it might be well over 10 years! And now I’m very excited that we’re seeing those original boot styles come back with a vengeance for fall. These boots are so well made and versatile. They really can take a beating and still come out looking great.
While I might pull out my 20’s, I think I’ll pick up a pair of Dr. Martens Triumph as well. I know they will be comfortable and as I was wearing them almost exclusively for years. I’ll pair them a little plaid skirt as well as jeans. Maybe some fluffy knee length skirts and cargo skirts too! The fun part about dressing with Docs is the freedom to wear what you want. Confidence is really what will tie the outfit together.
Three years ago, my husband and our good friends, the Campbells, developed a new Christmas tradition: To see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert. Talk about the spirit of the season in the air! Wow! There’s a crispness to the mood, the crowd is pumped and ready it’s visually, audibly, miraculous Ingrained talent flows through each instrument and voice, elating our emotions to the level of ecstasy.
Spews of firework-style pyrotechnics blaze the room, swirls of lights flash on and off the faces of the crowd, while booming thunder-like rifts rip from the guitars.
Such special occasions deserve to be treated as such special. This is not something to be taken lightly or for granted. Go ahead and put it on a pedestal and enjoy the night. — And it’s not too much to ask to dress up for such an occasion. Sparkles, glittering bold jewelry and stunning high heels..
… Guess by Marciano comes to mind. From the alluring silver strappy sandal, (shown above), to other gorgeous styles, such as …
You’ll have fun infusing your look to match the high-stepping drama of progressive rock, symphonic metal and a touch of classical elegance. Rock on – with GUESS!
R mentioned one of her favourite purple shoes was Boutique 9 Giganta. They really are a show stopper. I almost got cranky when they sold out so fast in my size, but thank goodness more were to arrive. I stalked shoes.com religiously waiting for them to come in stock. I was truly smitten.
When they finally arrived on the site I clicked away and they came quickly in the mail. They are very comfortable for 4 inch heels. What you can’t really see in the photo is the cut-out detail that is along the instep of the foot. It is really stunning. They run a tiny bit big, but nothing a heel insole can’t make up for. These are not leaving my hot little hands for a minute. I’m very happy with the purchase and look forward to trying out more Boutique 9 styles.
By season’s end, I find myself weary of the hot weather, the sound of flip-flops, and the overly (fake) tan bodies Summer entails. With the temperature slowly descending, I’m itching to put my Fall wardrobe in effect. One trend I am digging is the color purple (particularly in footwear). Which for me, conjures thoughts of the divine musician Prince cutting a rug on stage in some fabulous purple heels. I think it’s best not to ask ourselves what section of the store he got such shoes from, but instead follow his lead.
Wondering if you should invest in this trend or if you could even pull it off? Don’t worry, I’ve got your best interests in mind. For my gals who refuse to give up their standard black uniform; pair deep purple shoes with your little black dress or your every day slacks for some excitement. For the Casual Sophisticate, combine purple boots with dark wash denim. For my rebels, get funky! Maybe pair purple heels with a teal top, along with charcoal pants for work, or black tights and a printed tunic for hanging out.
From peep toes, to boots, to the luxurious…here are my first round picks for purple kicks…
I have to admit I have a weak spot for vintage fashion, especially vintage shoe styles. Well, it might be pretty obvious if you see my wardrobe day to day. Fashion cycles and when it stops on a favorite time period I always get giddy. Oxford shoes and booties. I love them. I especially love the oxford heels that are really in season.
This fall looks promising for oxford heels, and I’ll be wearing them all around the office. What is new though? Well, warm colors like browns and creams instead of just black and white.
Via Spiga Kelis, Womans Oxford Heel in Pink and Brown
Via Spiga Kelis is a really great variation on the classic oxford shoe. A little bit of lacing, but a lot of attitude that is totally wearable. It comes in great colors too.
Peep toe oxford booties are looking amazing. If you can stand the heel, L.A.M.B. Signature Collection Chiba will knock your socks off. Paired with a pencil skirt or pants they will definitely send a message. A little easier to handle on the heel and budget might be BCBGirls Kaola.
These are all tailored shoes that will give your outfit a bit of responsibility. Check the great selection out on Shoes.com
