Okay. So, I’m at a University of Louisville football game with my husband and our friends. During one low-point of the game, I decided it was a good time to get some hot chocolate, so I proceeded down to the concession stand. While standing in the long line in a huge crowd, I had time to people-watch and notice their … of course, footwear. It was amazing how many UGG boots I spotted. They seem to have just burst on to the scene with mind-blowing gusto. Tall, mid-calf, ankle height … all high-quality and eye-catching. Take, for example, the warm and snuggly Cove boots (shown above) … I spied these being worn by a young, blonde girl sipping a hot drink and eating a salty, soft pretzel … looking pretty and confident.
UGG Australia definitely had proven itself the “leader of the pack” in bootwear. Other fabulous styles waiting to be snatched-up are the Upside, Sunburst, and Langley all, of course, by UGG Australia. Be seen, look sharp, and have fun in the trendy, yet timeless, UGG Australia!
Cyndi Lauper was such a style setter. From her mismatched tights and flaming red side ponytail to her loads of eye makeup, jelly bracelets and checkered side ‘do, girls across the nation emulated her look by the droves in the 80’s. But does anyone know who dressed her? (And by the way, have any of the rest you 80’s moms heard your daughters singing the newest version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Miley Cyrus?)
Long known for her wild style and bold, whimsical looks, Betsey Johnson is making a major resurgence as the 80’s make their way back onto the fashion scene. It’s clear this woman knows how to have a little fun with style, right down to her super-bleached blonde bob. Her newest shoe collection, Betseyville by Betsey Johnson, lets everyone in on the fun. Here, you’ll find upbeat, vibrant looks in a variety of colors and styles with over-the-top embellishments like checkered bows, extra large buttons and fun, wild prints.
For a higher-end look by Miss Betsey, check out the shoes from her signature Betsey Johnson line. Like these bold and beautiful Reese pumps, crisp and classic with red rick-rack trim. Or these ultra-chic Ricci ankle boots, with oversized metal buttons, snazzy leopard print and stiletto spike heels.
Once your pair of like, totally awesome Betseys arrive, be sure to pair them with vibrant patterns and colors. And why not let Mrs. Lauper inspire a hairdo or two to match? (I am not referring to the checkerboard cut, ladies!)
If you have a cause to support, like going green, fighting against breast cancer, or taking a stand against poverty and disease, chances are you’ll find a way to (quite literally) walk your walk with a pair of fresh new sneaks or sporty casuals from Shoes.com.
My favorite cause brand is Toms. Toms is a casual shoe brand modeled after a traditional Argentine shoe style. For every pair purchased, Toms donates a pair to a child in need. Since 2006, the company has given more than 50,000 pairs to children in South Africa and over 10,000 pairs to children in Argentina.
The shoes, all slip-ons, feature a fabric upper with stretch elastic and Velcro ® for ease-of-fit. The soft and flexible soles mold to the shape your foot in less than four hours of the first wear. And you can feel good knowing you’ve contributed to the next shoe drop in a nation of poverty.
Shoes.com has a whole page dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds from the sale of The Reebok Zone II Pink Ribbon sneaker and the Cape Clogs Pink Ribbon Clog donate proceeds to this cause. Several other brands participate, too. Just visit Shoes.com and type in the keyword: Breast Cancer.
The Converse 1 Hund(RED) collection benefits (PRODUCT) RED for The Global Fund, supporting the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Check out the L’il Red Riding Hood All Star Lo sneaker and the layered 1Hund(RED) All Star Hi-top sneaker to have a little fun with fashion while supporting the health of impoverished nations.
Finally, for those who think green is the new black, there are plenty of cool brands to The Dr. Scholl’s Original Renew Exercise sandal, featuring vegetable-tanned leather or natural hemp fiber, a recycled metal buckle, Brazlian wood footbed and a corn-based flat traction outsole and the Simple Carat sneaker (using PET laces, recycled rubber inner tubes and car tires, organic cotton and post consumer paper pulp foot forms) are two great choices. For other eco-friendly shoe styles, visit Shoes.com and use the keyword: Eco-friendly.
Whatever your cause, you’ll be looking and feeling great in a new pair of shoes to help you rock your walk.

My dad used to be mesmerized by Old Hollywood. He could name any movie star, what character they played and in what movie. He was the king of Silver Screen trivia. On his coffee table was a book that displayed the shining stars of the day in bright techni-color glossies – each with a small biography. He’d proceed to tell me which ones were the big stars, and which ones were the up-and-coming wanna-bes. I couldn’t help but to notice the impeccable, above-reproach styling of these glamour women — with their swirled-back hair-dos, glossy red lips and curvy hourglass figures. They were Ultra-Divas –from their exquisite silky draped costumes down to their stunning strappy stilettos they were truly the royalty of their era.
In this modern day, women still want to shine, in their own right, like the queens of yesteryear. Enter Chinese Laundry. The beautiful Baldwin dress pumps (shown above) is a fabulous start to your over-all female sovereignty.
