Okay, I know what you are going to say. But if you knew me, and knew my off sense of style, you would have thrown these babies right at me. In fact, the photographers at shoes.com made sure that I knew they were in the studio and that I should stalk the site! You see, I wear a lot of black, drive a motorcycle and while I’m into shoes a LOT, I love something different. If these Dr. Martens Skelly Boots don’t scream different, I don’t know what does!

So these fit just like traditional docs, however they now come with an zipper up the side. Wow. I have to say while it feels like cheating I know I will wear them more. I wish they had this feature when I was wearing 20 hole docs everyday! My index fingers started getting calluses from tightening them daily. These boots are super comfy of course and are perfect for riding my bike. In fact my husband wants to put black lights on my pegs so that they glow at night like they should!

If you aren’t looking for something so um, patterened, shoes.com has a ton of solid color Dr. Martens in stock, and a lot of pretty boots that aren’t just the classic style. I’ve always found the fit comfortable and I’m able to wear them for hours at a time. Plus, the classics are unisex, so if you don’t see something in the womens section that you love, check out the mens section. None will be the wiser!

Peep Toe Pretty

BCBGirls Womens Castle 2

BCBGirls Women's Castle 2

It’s been a while since my peep-toe shoes have made an appearance in my wardrobe. My fourth pregnancy was especially taxing on my body, rendering heels impossible for the final four months. Then, after my new baby came, they were just plain impractical. I also happen to work at a fabulous online shoe company that just happens to be located in a tiny office inside a warehouse. So, given our workplace security standards, the office is the place where we rock most of our casual athletic footwear and slip-on ballet flats. Sure, we’re allowed to wear heels to work, but peep-toes are a work-place no-no. At least in our office.

So when I saw all the latest peep-toe shoes coming through for the season, complete with platform midsoles, I started digging through my collection. I’m very happy to say I’ve been ahead of this trend for a while–My closet is lined with lots of pretty peep-toe pumps and sandals! I love to pair them with a long pair of dark denim jeans for a total metropolitan hipster vibe, or with a pretty pair of denim capris for retro pinup-girl style.

I was somehow lucky enough to happen into a pair of Charles David lacey peep-toe Mary Jane pumps during a giant Shoesteal.com January sale, the latest addition to my growing collection. I have them in several colors, but I’m always ready to have another pair in black (always in style), and a few incorporating some of the season’s latest colors and trends, like plum, animal-print and
fringe.

I’m in complete adoration of these sassy BCBGirls Castle 2 sandals, above, with a bold zebra pattern and neon pink trim. The glossy patent-wrapped heel, midsole and slingback heel strap rev up this rockin’ style.

These Chinese Laundry Babe sandals, in a gleaming hue of plum, sizzle with alluring appeal. They remind me of old Hollywood starlet style with a modern twist of glam. Ditto for these Jessica Simpson Dover sandals, featuring a wide patent slingback heel strap and super-mod polished metal O-ring buckle closure.

My shoe wish list could go on forever (it can on Shoes.com, if you have a registered wish list), but if I had to stop at just one more pair, it would certainly have to be these throwback 80’s-inspired Betsey Johnson Ridge Mary Janes, with laser-cut star-shaped perforations and pinked pewter trim.

Minimalist Chic

Camper Womens 20696

Camper Women's 20696

Everywhere you turn this season, shoes are going big, bold, colorful and flamboyant. Beads, baubles, high wrapping ankle straps, fringe, studs and the like are fancifying footwear with a grand flourish.

My style tends to bounce back and forth from simple and carefree to bohemian and eccentric, depending on my mood and the venue. Hey, I’m a mom and a creative gal, so style is as style necessitates!

But over-the-top and on the edge are not for everyone……
Enter minimalist chic. This look combines the beauty of the modern form with simple silhouettes and unified color schemes….creating a look that is slick, contemporary and seemingly effortless.

Take, for example, these cute Camper sandals, pairing softly contrasting shades of red, orange and pink patent leather with imaginative and clever craftsmanship. A toe thong post, semi-cupped heel and adjustable buckle side closure keep this look both comfortable and streamlined.

Calvin Klein, my go-to guy for effortlessly pretty and modern looks, hits this style out of the park with several summery selections. These sleek Yvona sandals, featuring a stretch fabric vamp, low platform midsole and smooth wedge heel with a geometric cutout detail, create a lovely zen-like form. Similarly, the Calvin Klein Dail sandal and the Calvin Klein Calista sandal, two decidedly dressier selections, artfully combine modern aesthetic and elegant ease.

Finally, if you’re looking to add a bit of edge but not ready to go full throttle with the heavy metal, check out these Guess by Marciano Money sandals. A wrapped midsole, contemporary wide-spaced woven leather straps, a simple slingback heel strap and elegant polished metal stud fixtures carve out a unique and graceful look.

Gladiator Sandals

Why am I the only one who remembers the “gladiator” incident with Elizabeth Taylor a few years back at the Golden Globes? Liz started to yell out “Gladiator!” as the winner before she even read all of the nominees! I work at shoes.com and with gladiator sandals being such a big trend right now, the word gladiator gets said in a lot of meetings. Well, I can’t help myself. Each time it gets said, I say “gladiator” in my best Liz voice and crack myself up. I explaining what I thought was funny in the beginning, but now I just giggle to myself. Especially now that I just got my new pair of Sam Edelman gladiators in pewter. They have lots of strappy details and some gold with the pewter, so they go with any jewelry I have on. Even better, they zip up the back so you don’t have to adjust and undo those straps over and over again. My husband likes them too. They remind him of that show on HBO, “Rome” or maybe he likes them because he knows it cracks me up to say gladiator and I say it a lot now!

Fabulous Fergie

Fergie Womens Orchid

Fergie Women's Orchid

She is the woman who has it all: beauty, brains, a totally hot husband, and chart-topping records, both as the frontwoman of the Black-Eyed Peas and in her own right as a solo artist. Now, Fergie’s boasting a new success. Our rock icon/red carpet fashionista has released a shoe line that captures the essence of her look–in four fabulous collections — Remix, Kickin’ Back, Paparazzi-Ready and Glitterati.
As a soccer mom/shoe writer who wants to stay fashionable AND comfortable, I’m really digging these Orchid sneakers from Fergie’s Remix collection, (above). This sleek-streamlined silhouette goes great with a pair of extra-long yoga pants and a sporty, slim-fitting top.

The Glitterati collection features a pair of head-turning Disco sandals in a shimmering silver, and, rounding out her line of new releases, a variety of sandals and skimmers from Fergie’s Kickin’ Back collection, with an assortment of on-trend gladiators and pretty ballet flats.

The woman’s got style. So much, in fact, that she has even more looks available in her lower-priced line, Fergalicious, available on the Shoes.com web site.
