It may still be 80 degrees outside, but this gal’s already got boots on her mind. Based on what I’ve seen so far, fall/winter ‘09 is a bit bipolar – it’s all about the extremely high or the extremely low. The trend that intrigues me the most is the soaring, over-the-knee boot.
At first thought, I picture Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman,” but after glancing through some new styles, I’ve realized that these lofty boots are rather sophisticated. It’ll be interesting to see who amongst my trendy set of friends will be the first to don them.
Please hurry up & get here because I’m getting really excited for boot season & don’t think I can wait 3 more weeks.
Yes, it’s true – I officially have a crush on boots. The latest object of my affection: Chinese Laundry’s Wiz. I can just picture wearing these little black ankle booties paired perfectly with my fall skirts & patterned tights. It’s a good thing I bought some UGG suede spray last winter – I can spray these puppies down & have them ready to wear Monday after Labor Day.
My biggest craving lately hasn’t been pasta or cannoli. It has been for suede! That’s right, the soft, supple and sumptuous backside of leather! I want it in boots, in shoes and even in a vest. And I want it in shades of brown and carmel and tan. I know people are afraid of the stuff when the weather turns wet and cold, but it really is easy to take care of and hello…wear some snow boots and change when you get inside! Now back to my craving…
Suede evokes thoughts of fireplaces, warm, cozy knits, hot chocolate with additives, and a good book. It reminds me of the holidays, homecoming and happy things. OK, so maybe I am a little sentimental, but suede is my friend.
Here are just a few of the shoes/boots that I have waiting in my shopping cart.

Not only is it suede, but it is over-the-knee! Two, two, two trends in one! So pretty and so versatile, worn up or folded down!
Jessica Simpson Women's Pasadena
Ok, just look at it. So sassy and the grey taupe color is heavenly. Yeah, it’s high, but with skinny pants or a dress and tights, I am in love!
BORN Women's Yvette
Very retro and very cool. Love the nod to American Vintage, and love them with tucked jeans or a dress with a long cardigan!

Gasp! These are perfectly shaped and nice and high and so soft and classic…Absolutely gorgeous.
So, my craving has subsided a little just by sharing my faves with you. But before long I am going to have to give in and purchase! And I won’t need much per-seuding! HA!
I’ve never been one for bows or ruffles, but lately I’ve been finding myself more and more attracted to this trend. Ruffles can be subtle or really out there. They also don’t have to be bright pink and girly! I’m loving the Zigi Ruffle Bootie pictured above. The peep toe make it something that can be worn for a few seasons, and the dark stone color is so easy to pair with outfits.
I’ve been wearing the Steve Madden Soya which is a staple for the summer. I find the back really comfortable and it also stops that annoying flip flopping on loud surfaces. I think I’m pretty set on getting the Nina Elga for nights out on the town. I have a few weddings to go to this summer and fall, and I think I could pair this with a few dresses I have in my closet! Brilliant!
Wow. It has been a really rainy spring and summer. Unfortunately, the parking lot at work is a real lake when we get a bit of precipitation and all my cute shoes fall victim to non-avoidable puddles. Boo! I did get a pair of Original Hunter Boots last year, and I even bought the very cool Lady N Boots as well for a change of pace. Now, Hunter Boots have some really cool gloss colors perfect for fall and summer. I love the grey (pictured above) and there is really an intense Gloss Orange that will get looks.
Check out all the Hunter Boots styles at shoes.com. If you don’t think you will get enough wear out of them like I did they might prove you wrong. Now, off to look for an ark!
