It’s been a while since my peep-toe shoes have made an appearance in my wardrobe. My fourth pregnancy was especially taxing on my body, rendering heels impossible for the final four months. Then, after my new baby came, they were just plain impractical. I also happen to work at a fabulous online shoe company that just happens to be located in a tiny office inside a warehouse. So, given our workplace security standards, the office is the place where we rock most of our casual athletic footwear and slip-on ballet flats. Sure, we’re allowed to wear heels to work, but peep-toes are a work-place no-no. At least in our office.
So when I saw all the latest peep-toe shoes coming through for the season, complete with platform midsoles, I started digging through my collection. I’m very happy to say I’ve been ahead of this trend for a while–My closet is lined with lots of pretty peep-toe pumps and sandals! I love to pair them with a long pair of dark denim jeans for a total metropolitan hipster vibe, or with a pretty pair of denim capris for retro pinup-girl style.
I was somehow lucky enough to happen into a pair of Charles David lacey peep-toe Mary Jane pumps during a giant Shoesteal.com January sale, the latest addition to my growing collection. I have them in several colors, but I’m always ready to have another pair in black (always in style), and a few incorporating some of the season’s latest colors and trends, like plum, animal-print and
fringe.
I’m in complete adoration of these sassy BCBGirls Castle 2 sandals, above, with a bold zebra pattern and neon pink trim. The glossy patent-wrapped heel, midsole and slingback heel strap rev up this rockin’ style.
These Chinese Laundry Babe sandals, in a gleaming hue of plum, sizzle with alluring appeal. They remind me of old Hollywood starlet style with a modern twist of glam. Ditto for these Jessica Simpson Dover sandals, featuring a wide patent slingback heel strap and super-mod polished metal O-ring buckle closure.
My shoe wish list could go on forever (it can on Shoes.com, if you have a registered wish list), but if I had to stop at just one more pair, it would certainly have to be these throwback 80’s-inspired Betsey Johnson Ridge Mary Janes, with laser-cut star-shaped perforations and pinked pewter trim.
